Assignment Introduction and Context
Every person called to ministry will be stretched to communicate in modes that he or she never imagined or dreamed. This writing assignment will orient you and form a foundation from which to succeed, no matter what the mode of communication before you. In this assignment, you will find a biblical foundation for why your words matter and why you should work to be as effective as possible in communicating to others. You will express an understanding of effective communication principles and discover how your personality and gifts shape your own communication style.
Tasks
Write a 1,700–2,000-word paper in a Microsoft Word document on your personal philosophy of communication
The paper must include the following:
A biblical foundation element that provides evidence that God calls His people to communicate His message to the world in a variety of ways (modes).
A theoretical component that provides basic communication principles to aid in communication.
An identification of what modes of communication you believe will be a major component of your ministry.
An understanding of how your personality can thrive in all modes, stating ways in which your personality can shine through in the different modes of communication discussed in this course. (Reference your Myer-Briggs survey results if you have completed that test.)
Utilize at least four sources from professional literature in your research. Professional literature may include the South University Online Library, relevant textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, and websites created by professional organizations, agencies, or institutions (.org, or .gov).
