Food is necessary for survival. However, increasingly the quality of food is compromised by corporations seeking profit. Poor people cannot afford non-GMO, organic food. Ironically organic food is cheaper to produce because it does not require harsh chemicals or gases to prolong its shelf life. This is precisely the reason for organic food being expensive since it is more perishable, i.e., it has a shorter shelf life. Hence, even so called organic food and its quality is manipulated to ensure it gets to the market and survives for a longer duration of time by not allowing it to naturally perish. Thereby its natural life span is increased. Sadly, the poor eat chemically treated food with added sugar and salt. This continues to adversely impact health conditions.
