Module 2 Part C – Case 4 – The Amusement Park Industry (U.S.)

The case reading on the U.S. Amusement Park industry is all you need for this assignment. You may, however, do extra research as long as you cite (in line) and provide references to your additional sources of information.

Your task with this case is to follow the guidance and demonstrate your understanding of and ability to apply the methods presented in Module 2, Part C:

1. Identify and describe the defining parameters of this industry. That is, (a) characterize the producers, buyers, and suppliers; and (b) what need to buyers have that the producers meet, and therefore, what are available substitutes. You can present your response #1 simply as bullet points to describe each element; that is, you do not need to write this out in paragraph style.

2. Complete the attached Excel Five Forces worksheet showing your analysis of this industry.

3. Practice your professional communication skills! Using PowerPoint, create a one-page color graphic slide that summarizes your conclusions of your Five Forces analysis.

4. Do a PEST analysis to identify the major drivers of change for producers in this industry. (a) Provide a LIST of all (as many as you can! – I’d expect at least a dozen) the change issues you identify that are occurring or are likely to occur in the next few years. (b) Using appropriate criteria (see the lesson) prioritize your list to conclude which three (3) are the most important Drivers of Change (DoC) for the next 3-5 years. *Write up your conclusion of the three most important DoC using good argument form*.

5. Using the methods and approach described in the lesson, identify and explain what you believe are the three (3) most important Key Success Factors and/or changes that firms must adapt to for this industry over the next 3-5 years. *Write up your conclusion using good argument form*.
