Course Description

This course focuses on methods of health history taking, physical examination skills, documentation, and health promotion strategies. The course emphasizes the individual as the client, health patterns across the lifespan, community resources, and the teaching learning process.

You will be automatically registered on the Shadow Health website via your LoudCloud credentials. However, you will need to accept the privacy policy to proceed to your course. Once in the course section, complete the Shadow Health Orientation in Topic 1. Follow the instructions for each subsequent assignment accordingly.

Each Digital Clinical Experience will have an accompanying interview guide that provides an outline of the experience’s components and requirements. When collapsed, the interview guide will appear directly above the question box. Clicking on the teal plus sign will expand the guide and allow navigation through the data points required for the assignment, while also providing a means of tracking your progress through the experience. The growth, development, and learned behaviors that occur during the first year of infancy have a direct effect on the individual throughout a lifetime. For this assignment, research an environmental factor that poses a threat to the health or safety of infants and develop a health promotion that can be presented to caregivers.

Create a 10-12 slide PowerPoint health promotion, with speaker notes, that outlines a teaching plan. For the presentation of your PowerPoint, use Loom to create a voice over or a video. Include an additional slide for the Loom link at the beginning, and an additional slide for references at the end.

In developing your PowerPoint, take into consideration the health care literacy level of your target audience, as well as the demographic of the caregiver/patient (socioeconomic level, language, culture, and any other relevant characteristic of the caregiver) for which the presentation is tailored.

This clinical experience is a focused exam. Students must score at the level of “Proficiency” in the Shadow Health Digital Clinical Experience. Students have three opportunities to complete this assignment and score at the Proficiency level. Upon completion, submit the lab pass through the assignment dropbox.

Students successfully scoring within the Proficiency level in the Digital Clinical Experience on the first attempt will earn a grade of 100 points; students successfully scoring at the Proficiency level on the second attempt will earn a grade of 90 points; and students successfully scoring at the Proficiency level on the third attempt will earn a grade of 80 points.

Students who do not pass the performance-based assessment by scoring within the Proficiency level in three attempts will receive a failing grade (68 points).

Students have three opportunities to complete this assignment and score at the Proficiency level. Upon completion, submit the lab pass through the assignment dropbox.

Students successfully scoring within the Proficiency level in the Digital Clinical Experience on the first attempt will earn a grade of 150 points; students successfully scoring at the Proficiency level on the second attempt will earn a grade of 135 points; and students successfully scoring at the Proficiency level on the third attempt will earn a grade of 120 points.
