This assignment is a synthesis of the course. The purpose of this assignment is to disseminate findings in a scholarly format just as if you were presenting at a professional conference. We have provided you a poster to edit. Download poster template here. You need to add your specific health or system topic that you have developed throughout this course. Add information from your review of the literature under each heading. Identify the three most important references and add to the Evidence Appraisal table. Be sure to identify the Level of Hierarchy of the article and assign a GRADE, based on the readings and how GRADE is formulated. You are encouraged to add meaningful and relevant pictures. In addition to uploading your poster, also upload the 3 articles in your table so we can verify the level and GRADE. Examples: You can view other types of posters students have developed in other classes to identify how color and pictures can add meaning. Substance Abuse Poster and Breast Cancer Poster.Topic: Effectiveness of diagnostic approaches for venous thromboembolism in elderly
patients to improve diagnostic accuracy and lower health care costs (244)
Problem Identified
While the prevalence of venous thromboembolism (DVT) increases morbidity in elderly patients,
evaluation of financial implications, standards of screening, diagnostic accuracy is critical to
enhancing patients’ wellbeing.
Clinical Question
The clinical objective of this presentation is to assess the effectiveness of the standard imaging
diagnostic approach over duplex ultrasonography.
Evidence Review and Appraisal
According to Karsy et al., (2020), screening with duplex ultrasonography presents weak
predictions for the prevalence of DVT in the elderly and is also costly. Karsy et al., (2020), notes
that standard mining approaches such as D-dimer protocols are less costly and predict DVT risks
in the elderly. D-dimer provides an aggressive diagnostic approach effectively compared to duplex
ultrasonography (Reardon et al., 2019). Standards used in duplex ultrasonography, as noted by
Ettefagh (2019), require additional guidance and medical history to lower costs. Thus, standard
imaging, such as D-dimer protocols, is effective since it lowers costs and enhances diagnostic
accuracy.
Change Practice
A structured change management approach is essential to educate health care professionals to
utilize standard imaging in elderly patients to reduce the prevalence of DVT and also prevent
severe financial implications.
Evaluations and Recommendations
It is essential to employ standard imaging diagnostic approaches, and health care facilities should
consider its application.
Interprofessional collaboration must comprise of Neurosurgeons, nurses from all levels,
pharmacists, social workers, and health board members.
